Journey of a sheep’s fleece        2020

Asten is the first in a series of 3d tufted rugs designed for CSrugs. The highly textured rugs will each depict a different location that is important in the production of the fine wool that the company uses in most of their rugs. From the Corriedale sheep in New Zealand all the way to the rug tufting company itself, located in an industrial site in Asten, the Netherlands. A film about the project is made by Roel van Tour.

For an earlier project called ‘Fibre Market’, Christien Meindertsma has shredded woolen sweaters into small fibre and created a yarn where colourful ‘flecks’ were made out of the recycled woollen fibre. On the basis of this principle she has mixed 10 colours with these flecks for this project that will be combined with the Corriedale wool in the designs.

The collection will be completed in Spring 2021
